Neymar’s father drop transfer update on the attacker amid Barcelona link

The father of Neymar has stressed that the ongoing speculation linking the Brazilian with a potential return to Barcelona is false. The attacker only joined Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record move from the Camp Nou 20 months ago but there have been numerous occasions where he has been fancied to make a comeback with the Spanish champions.

In a report covered by Sport, Neymar’s father has revealed that there has been no contact whatsoever with Barcelona regarding a probable comeback and the recent speculation over the same can be deemed false. He added that the Brazilian is content with the proceedings at Paris Saint-Germain despite experiencing frustrating injuries over the past two years.

He said: “I have not had a single call with Barcelona, that’s false. Of course, Barca are a great team. We were all happy there. And it’s evident that when you talk about transfers, Neymar’s name comes up. It’s impossible to leave a player like him out of the rumours. His future is in Paris, his present is in Paris. It’s hard to talk about the future because in football anything can change at any moment (but) besides the injury, he’s very happy in Paris.”

Neymar sustained a second metatarsal injury with Les Parisiens during the month of January and the setback has meant that he could remain sidelined until the middle of March at the least. Nonetheless, the Capital outfit have found no difficulties in coping with the absence and they recently bagged a 2-0 triumph over Manchester United in the Champions League where Cavani was likewise on the treatment table.

Elsewhere, Barcelona have similarly moved on from the departure of Neymar with Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele brought into the mix. The duo have experienced mixed spells during their time at the Catalan giants but one or the other has shown up when they have required a performance in a crucial game.
