Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sends warning to Barcelona ahead of Champions League clash

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that the Red Devils can spring a surprise on Barcelona during the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final at the Camp Nou. The Red Devils suffered a slender 1-0 during the first leg at Old Trafford last week, but they produced an impressive performance which kept the Blaugrana attack at bay.

Speaking in a news conference, Ole said that United’s main threat comes from the attack front and the club will be hoping to utilise the same to outwit the Spanish champions, he said: “You look at the quality of those players and that gives us a threat. We carry a goal threat and of course what we did against PSG as a team must give everyone a huge confidence boost. We will use the PSG [match], we will use the Juventus away. We have beaten some good teams away from home this year, and played against some great players.”

United’s most recent away triumph came at Parc des Princes where they secured a shock 3-1 triumph to oust Paris Saint-Germain from the Champions League. However, they were handed some lucky breaks due to some frantic defending from the hosts and it remains to be seen whether they can trigger a similar urgency from the Catalans to induce mistakes.

Nonetheless, their task remains much more difficult than the one in Paris, considering Blaugrana have remained unbeaten for the past 30 European games at the Camp Nou. Moreover, they have been handed an extended week rest with the majority of the starting XI rested for the recent game against Huesca and that should offer them with the added edge in terms of the fitness. United go into the clash following a 2-1 win over West Ham United at Old Trafford. They were far from impressive, but got the result after being handed a penalty in either half.
