Arsenal line up move for Martinez

Colombian striker Jackson Martinez could be set for a move to the Premier League with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger heaping praise on the FC Porto man ahead of his side’s FA Cup match against Middlesbrough.

The Gunners have been linked with the 28 year old striker, who played for Colombia in last summer’s World Cup for quite some time as they look for a top quality man to partner Frenchman Olivier Giroud up front.

The player’s agent has also given an idea that the prolific goal scorer could be set to leave the Portuguese giants this summer for a bigger club, increasing speculation that Wenger could make a move for the forward.

The Colombian, who led the attack for the team during the World Cup in the absence of Radamel Falcao, has been linked with a whole host of European giants including Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool but Porto has so far, been reluctant to sell their stat striker.

The Portuguese giants are notorious for their reluctance to sell their top players at cut price rates and Arsenal will have to pay top dollar if they want to get their main striker target for the summer.

Manchester United have also been linked with the talismanic Colombian as they look to secure a top class striker to replace his misfiring national teammate Falcao, who is on a season long loan at United from French club Monaco.

They have been linked by titanbet with Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani but will go for Martinez if the move for the Uruguayan international striker falls through. But Arsene Wenger and Arsenal will be hoping the lure of a regular starting place at the Emirates Stadium will prove to be a bigger draw than being a bench warmer at the Old Trafford giants.
